The centre of Rimini is small enough to travel around on foot and this can be particularly enjoyable, since there are many shops and interesting historic buildings which are worth exploring along the way. To travel between Rimini's centre and its seafront, bus transport is both inexpensive and city buses operate on a regular basis. Bicycles also offer an interesting and eco-friendly transport alternative.

For visitors who are thinking of travelling around the region, then it may be worth hiring a car. However, it's also worth checking out train services from Rimini to some of the more popular cities, such as Ravenna, which can be extremely speedy alternatives.

Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) / Arriving by Air

Rimini is served by Federico Fellini International Airport, located just 8 km / 5 miles from the city itself. The airport has limited international and domestic connecting flights. In particular, EasyJet operates from London-Luton in the UK to Federico Fellini Airport. Regular buses transport visitors from the airport into central Rimini. Taxis can also be found at the airport and provide a convenient way to travel to your destination.

Car Rental

Many of Rimini's hotels offer private guest garaging. This can be a real boon during the peak summer season. In July and August, parking on the city's seafront can be both very difficult and very expensive.

Buses and Coaches

Rimini has a good bus transport system. The municipal bus company, known as TRAM (Trasporti Riuniti Area Metropolitana), links the entire centre of the city with its seaside resorts, including Bellariva, Marebello, Rivazzurra and Miramare. In total, there are some 15 bus routes which connect to destinations all over the city, many of which also travel to Rimini's train station. During August, the Blue Line service operates special late-night bus transport, which connects out-of-town clubs with the city centre, train station and campsites.

Coaches transport visitors from Rimini to a number of towns and cities in the region, including San Marino, Cattolica, Savignano and Torriana. These travel from Rimini's train station. The Ferrovie Padane bus station is situated nearby and is the departure point for coaches heading out to Valmarecchia and Montefeltro. Visitors who are interested in taking an organised excursion should check out private bus lines which operate to most popular tourist destinations round and about.

Trains

The train station in Rimini is situated on Piazzale Cesare Battisti and is just a short 10-minute walk from the historic city centre. Train services link Rimini with other towns and cities in the Emilia-Romagna region, including Ravenna, Pesaro, Ancona, Ferrara, Padua and also Bologna. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, making this mode of transport a good value alternative to hiring a car.

Taxis

Taxis are plentiful in Rimini and offer a convenient way of getting around, particularly during the evening, being especially suitable for covering relatively short distances.

Bicycles

Some 30 km / 18 miles of cycle paths link the centre of Rimini to the coast and surrounding villages and countryside, being especially scenic at times.
