Rimini also boasts a variety of specialist museums. These range from a museum devoted to the life and work of the film director, Fellini, to one that covers everything you could need to know about the history of aviation.
Also popular and worth investigating in Rimini is the Gambalunga Library, which is located along the Via Gambalunga and is a curious mix of old and new. Those with an interest in marine life will find many different aspects covered at the Museo Delle Conchiglie, although this museum is only open during the main summer season.

Just south of Rimini centre, this huge museum is home to aircraft used in conflicts ranging from Korea and Vietnam to more recent conflicts of the Gulf, and former Yugoslavia. The museum has over 40 planes, including Clark Gable's plane and the plane that once transported the likes of Marilyn Monroe and John Kennedy. Another area of the Aviation Museum displays pilots' uniforms and photographs.

Fellini's Museum is located within Rimini's historic centre and is popular with both Italian public and foreign visitors alike. This museum covers everything related to the great film director's life and career, from the earliest days of Federico Fellini (1920 - 1993) to his greatest masterpieces, including five Oscars. The Museo Fellini hosts regular exhibitions of drawings, photographs and sketches.

Visitors can uncover the secrets of the sea in this fascinating display of marine life. Displays include everything from shells and turtle shells, to molluscs, marine organisms and crustaceans. Exhibits at the Museo Delle Conchiglie come from all over the world.

Rimini Museums: The Gambalunga Library - Via Gambalunga 27, Rimini, Italy, IT

Within the historic walls of Palazzo Gambalunga's Library are an astonishing 200,000 books, as well as rare manuscripts, periodicals, historical artefacts and similar attractions. These form the extensive collection of one Allessandro Gambalunga, a 16th-century merchant's son. Today, the Gambalunga Library also has modern-day publications and is open to the public. Indeed, it's noted for being the first library in Italy to be run by the public authorities and open to the public. Alongside the actual library, the Palazzo Gambalunga also has a special children's library, as well as an exhibition space.
